Kate brings the art of midwifery into her practice as a midwife, advocate and teacher
compassionate midwives - empowered birth
Kate Parks & Joy Keller serving Fairbanks, Delta Junction and Interior Alaska
Philosophy
I am a firm believer in the midwifery model of care, shared decision making, and safe family focused care. Families feel empowered and babies are born when they feel supported, nurtured, respected, and they are undisturbed during the birthing process. The experience throughout pregnancy, birth and the weeks and months following is a truly special and sacred time that should be honored with safe, holistic, healing centered care for the whole family.
The people that make it their life’s work to provide this care are amazing, deeply valuable and are needed more around the world especially in rural and remote areas. I am so happy to be able to advocate for the integration of midwifery care in health care systems, support the health and healing of care providers, and offer my services as a preceptor to train the next generation of midwives. The world needs more midwives!
Experience
Kate Parks has always been a midwife in her heart and it continues to be her greatest passion. She has been honored to serve many families over the last 17 years. Kate began attending birth as a doula in 2007 and as a midwives apprentice in 2013, licensing with the state in 2016. Kate served at a local non-profit birth center for 10 years, most recently as their clinical director and has moved on to open a private practice as founder of ABLEMIDWIFE LLC. Kate provides safe, holistic, full scope maternity care including prenatal, home birth, and post-partum care, childbirth education and training for midwives and doulas. She has had the honor of attending over 500 births for many families over the years and truly loves the people and community of interior Alaska.

Our Community
Kate has been blessed to call the beautiful Goldstream valley near Fairbanks in Interior Alaska her home for over 25 years. She has served the interior Alaska community as a doula and then as a midwife for well over half of that time. She continues to serve as a community midwife, childbirth and labor support educator, BLS/CPR instructor, midwifery preceptor and alternative health care support coordinator and advocate. Joy serves primarily in the Delta Junction area and is able to provide prenatal/post-partum appointments for ABLEMIDWIFE clients as well as some supplemental appointments for clients seeing other providers. She also provides homebirth in Delta Junction on a case by case basis as well as midwife support in the greater Interior. We have opened our in town office and birth home - affectionately known as the Boreal Born Abode at 804 Smythe St in Fairbanks, Alaska right behind the Noel Wien Library.

“I have worked with Kate for many years and attended quite a few births with her, as a fellow midwife and she was at the birth of my last baby, five years ago. If you are looking for a caring, compassionate soul that is also extremely competent and well trained and full of mother earth’s wisdom, you have come to the right place! Kate will embrace you and all of your “youness”. She will love and protect your family and will hold everything that you share with her without judgment. Kate is someone you can trust with the things you hold most dear; your heart, your family and your unborn child.”
